    This image of the Sun's photosphere reveals six groups of sunspots.

    The sunspot complex in the lower hemisphere was active the day this image was taken, producing a C-class solar flare at approximately 1:00pm EDT. Solar flares are not usually seen in this type of view of the Sun. This image was taken with a Lumenera SKYnyx 2-2 camera attached to a Televue 85mm refractor fitted with a white light solar filter.
