Robert Hager, a distinguished NBC News correspondent for 35 years, will look back on his career in journalism and share his favorite aviation and space stories in a lecture at the National Air and Space Museum's building on the National Mall in Washington on Thursday, March 31.
Before retiring at the end of last year, Hager filed more than 5,000 reports for the "Today" show and "NBC Nightly News." He is a former combat and foreign correspondent and also a recognized expert in the transportation field. Hager reported from the scenes of nearly every major air disaster of the last two decades as well as some of the biggest storms to hit the United States. In December 2003, Hager gave "Today" and "Nightly News" viewers a preview of the museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.
The lecture program, part of the General Electric Aviation Lecture Series, will begin at 7 p.m. in the Lockheed Martin IMAX Theater. Hager's remarks will be preceded by a free showing of the new IMAX film, "Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag."
Tickets for the lecture are free and can be obtained at any Smithsonian Institution box office, by emailing "lectures@nasm.si.edu," or by calling (202) 633-2398.
