In its first program to offer English and Spanish presentations, the National Air and Space Museum will host a "Milestones of Flight: Apollo 11 Family Day" at its flagship building in Washington on Saturday, Jan. 28.

The day, which commemorates the first lunar landing, will feature activities including stories and art projects for children ages 3-11 and talks in both languages. Experts will discuss the museum's Apollo 11 command module; how a computer with as much power as a present-day wristwatch transported people to the moon; what the moon is made of; and why exploring the lunar surface is important.

Hispanic aerospace professionals will be available to discuss their careers and answer questions.

The bilingual event is part of an ongoing initiative to better serve the needs of the Washington community. It also kicks off a series of family programs marking the museum's 30th anniversary year.

The “Apollo 11 Family Day” is sponsored by Northrop Grumman and will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the museum's building on the National Mall, located at Sixth Street and Independence Avenue S.W. Admission is free.
