I couldn’t tell you what 2001: A Space Odyssey was about despite having watched it intently several times (OK, really just one). Was is it about humanity’s rebirth from Earthly beings to blobby star children, or a warning about relying on sassy robots, or a disturbing commentary about the horrors of aging?
Whatever you believe, I can tell you with certainty that we’ve enjoyed celebrating the 50th anniversary of the film here at the Museum. There were screenings, lectures, parties complete with a balloon monolith, and the cornerstone of our celebration the immersive installation The Barmecide Feast.
Here are our favorite photos from you in that famous room. And if you have a moment, consider enlightening me on the plot of the film in the comments.
