    Dorothy Hawkins Goot (born June 8, 1923) joined the WASPs in August, 1943. She attended flying school at Avenger Field, TX, where she received instrument training and flew the Stearman, PT-19, BT-13, UC-78 and AT-6 aircraft. She attended B-26 Transition School and later was assigned to Gowen Field, Idaho, where she flew target towing missions in the B-26. She was also assigned to Dyersburg AFB, Tennessee, where she flew the B-26, L-5, T-6 and B-24 until the WASPs were deactivated in the December, 1944. She was retroactively made a first lieutenant in 1977 when the WASPs were granted official veterans status.
