    I learned to fly in 1941, was a member of the Civil Air Patrol until I entered service with the Army Air Force in 1943. Completed aircraft mechanic school, was assigned to a B-17 production line maintenance crew as an engine specialist. After a year the unit was changed over to B-29 aircraft. I attended R-3350 engine specialist school and returned to my unit until honorably discharged. I graduated from the Roosevelt Aviation School and awarded a Federal Aviation Administration Airplane and Powerplant Certificate. I was appointed to an A/C mechanic position with the NJ Army National Guard working as a Mechanic, Lead Mechanic, Allied Shop Foreman, finally as A/C Mechanic Supervisor.
