    Paul Tarcha served in the US Army Air Corps during WW-II from 1942 to 1946 attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. In February of 1943 Paul graduated (Class 44B) from flight training at the Marianna Army Air Base in Marianna Florida with a commission of 2nd Lieutenant 1 and received his coveted US Army Air Corps silver pilot's wings. He was later sent to Decatur, Alabama where he bravely took to the skies instructing cadets in the fine art of piloting military aircraft and honing their skills to the exacting standards demanded by the US Army Air Corps Aviation Cadet Pilot Training program. He trained fighter and bomber pilots for the war in Europe and bomber pilots for the war in the Pacific. Paul had a great passion for flying and logged a total of 1314 hours during his military career. Planes he flew during this period included the J-3 Piper Cub, PT-17 Stearman Kaydet, PT-19 Fairchild, BT-13 and BT-15 Vultee Valiant, AT-6 North American Texan, AT-11 Beech Kansan, L-9 Hospital Ship, C-46 Cargo, C-47 Cargo, P-40 War Hawk, B-25 Billy Mitchell Bomber, and the B-17 Flying Fortress. After Paul completed his tour of duty, he left the service in Dec. of 1946 at which time he successfully pursued a degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. Today Paul is married, has three children and two grandchildren.
