Husband of Janet Morrow Leidy who resided in Van Buren, Maine.
Robert served as a First Lieutenant & Pilot on P-47D #42-26683, 360th Fighter Squadron, 356th Fighter Group, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. He resided in Aroostook County, Maine prior to the war. He was great shot with a deer rifle. Robert was "Killed In Action" after reporting he was low on fuel and crashed near Eichelhardt, Germany during the war. He was awarded the "Distinguished Flying Cross", Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Purple Heart.
