    My deceased brother, W. Bruce Ely Jr. served four years in the U. S. Army Air Force in World War II.
    He obtained his pilots license while attending Memphis State College in Memphis, TN while enrolled in the Civilian Pilot Training Program. He was born in Memphis TN June 23, 1920 and Died in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1970.
    Bruce entered the Air Force in 1942 and won his commission and wings in military gliders. He became a glider pilot instructor after getting his commission and was a pilot instructor in the WACO CG 4 troop carrier glider. He served in Stillwater MN, Lubbock and Austin, TX. He instructed many of the WACO CG 4 pilots that served in the Normandy Invasion.
