    First Lieutenant Alfred W. Edes of the United States Army Air Corps was killed in action 13 March 1944 during a combat mission over CROCETTA, France. 1st Lieutenant Edes was a member of the 526th Bomber Squadron, 379th Bomb Group (H). He was on his 21st combat sortie as a B-17 pilot at the time of his death. Lieutenant Edes and his entire bomber crew await the Resurrection in the Normandy American Cemetery.
