    Ms. Mildred J. Limburg

Commanding Officer of 165th 1st Air Commando. Saw action in China, Burma, India Theater. Lt. Limburg was a fighter pilot, flying the P51 Mustang. Things were quiet in the air over Burma, and Lt. Limburg along with 6 ohters volunteered to fly the wounded and supplies in the UC64. The route took them "over the hump, by the seat of their pants." Two of their number were lost and the route became known as "Aluminum Alley." After the war Lt. Limburg, who was an aviator before entering the AAF, became a flight instructor teaching 500 students to fly without mishap. His love of aviation has remained constant. He is building a model of all 27 aircraft he has flown. The P51 Mustang-his "Doll" among them.
