    George Edward Smith (Sept. 14, 1919, to April 16, 1985) served as a pilot, navigator, bombardier, and flight surgeon on B-17's, B-29's, B-36's, P-40's, and B-52's, with the 448th and the 467th during World War II from Dec. 14, 1942, until Dec. 20, 1945. He re-enlisted for the Korean Conflict in April, 1951, and and served as a flight instructor at Carswell Air Force Base at Fort Worth, Texas, teaching pilots, navigators, and bombardiers. He was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in Sept., 1952.
