My uncle Pete was a 1stLt and Aircraft Commander of a C-47 during World War II. He was shot down and killed during the allied invasion of Italy in July 1943. He received several decorations including an Air Medal during his service.

I never knew my uncle but knew much about him from my mom. She always felt my love of flight and airplanes was in part due to my uncle's spirit.
