    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:

After training our crew of six was sent to England, January 1945. We were assigned to the 322nd Bomb Group, 449thBomb Squadron. I made 28 combat missions. Though I had some close calls, like a spin from 8000 feet to 300 feet, flak and German aircraft like a ME-262, I was grateful to have flown in the B-26 Marauder. This aircraft came through ETO with an enviable combat record not matched by any other bomber. The loss to enemy action at war’s end was an amazing less than ½ %.
