Born in 1920, he entered the Army Air Corp as a volunteer after Pearl Harbor Day. He trained to be a bombardier and flew out of Kimbolton, England with the 8th Air Force, 1st Division, 398th. Lt. Poole served as a bombardier, flew over 40 missions until he was shot down over Holland and captured as a prisoner of war. He stayed a prisoner and upon release, was awarded the Bronze Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters, two Purple Hearts, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, and Prisoner of War Medal. He served his country well.
