    During World War II, Lt. Skelly was a navigator with the 8th Air Force stationed in England flying in B17s during the bombing of Germany. After the war in Europe he returned to the U.S. to navigate troop carriers and cargo planes to and around the Pacific Theater of Operations.
    In 1950 he continued his navigation skills during the Berlin Airlift making many flights in and out of Berlin. After leaving the Air Force, he was a navigator for Northwest Airlines and the Flying Tigers throughout the Pacific. He has circumnavigated the globe with the exception of a short area in Southeast Asia.
