Richard R BRANCH graduated in 1940 from Colgate College, NY, where he was active in sports (swimming and skiing teams). While working for duPont/deNemours Corporation in defense-related duties he, for patriotic reasons and keen interest in flying, volunteered for military service (February 1943). He was commissioned in the Air Corps in September 1944. While still in aviation training in Texas, he fell out of formation during a practice flight and crashed in from an altitude of 21,000 feet. He died immediately, April 1945.
