    Born in Jackson, Michigan on May 8, 1974. She served in the United States Air Force from 1996 to 2000. She was assigned to the 34th Fighter Squadron, 388th Fighter Wing, Hill AFB Utah. At the time she was the only female F-16 Fighting Falcon Crew Chief in the 388th Fighter Wing. She deployed to the Middle East and her aircraft supported the patrol of the No fly zone. She loved all things flight. One of her favorite sayings was “Jet noise, the sounds of freedom”. In loving Memory, Laurie Malec May 8, 1974 to March 26, 2012.
