Aaron and Lois Kate have a longtime interest in aviation and space exploration history and technology. Aaron, now retired, was a chief engineer and principal designer of ground control and command nodes for families of classified reconnaissance and commercial communication satellites. He designed an optical docking system for the Apollo vehicle. Since his retirement, he has continued to keep abreast of developments in the field and has taught courses on systems development.
