My father, the honoree, served in the U.S. Navy from 1917-1945 as an Aviation Machinist Mate. He became Chief Aviation Machinist Mate in 1932. He flew in every Navy plane developed in the pre-World War II period. He specialized in seaplanes and development of catapult techniques. He served on carriers, cruisers and battleships, USS Wright, USS Northampton, and USS Texas.
Regular Navy Aviation Chief Machinist Mate.
Retired to the Fleet Naval Reserve 1945.
