    Wall of Honor Level:
    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:
    Mr. Norman Gillis

Honoree Alan A. Gillis, a native of McComb, Mississippi, received his private pilot's license at age 16. Prior to that date he had regularly flown with his father in numerous military trainers, open cockpits, and other "Tail Dragger" antique aircraft.

Alan's experience is very rare and extensive, including solo piloting of the Ryan P.T. 22, Stearman P.T. 17, Fairchild P.T. 19, Piper J-3, Piper J-5, Citabria, Cessna 150, 170, and 172, as well as numerous twin- and single-engine modern airplanes. He is float plane qualified, and instrument rated with a commercial twin-engine license currently in force.

Few living pilots have equal experience or skill in flying the early aircraft of the 20th Century, and nobody is more devoted to the thrill of stick-and-rudder piloting.

Wall of Honor profiles are provided by the honoree or the donor who added their name to the Wall of Honor. The Museum cannot validate all facts contained in the profiles.
