    Mr. Alan J. Hayes has an extensive career in the Spaceflight, Management, and Air Traffic Operations area.

    From 2009-Present, Mr. Hayes is the Manager, Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) Enterprise Architecture at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where he is responsible for the overall design of the next-generation AIM Architecture being implemented as part of the Next-Generation Air Traffic Control System (NextGen). He is also the Program Manager for the FAA's Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Integrity and Prediction (GIP) System. This system reports both planned/unplanned Global Positioning System (GPS) outages and predicts when they will occur.

    From 2007-2009, Mr. Hayes was the Manager, Spaceflight Management Program at the FAA. This program worked closely with NASA, DoD, FAA, and the FAA's Office of Commercial Space Transportation to model debris patterns, should a spacecraft break-up during launch and landing, and reduce the amount of airspace and the time that is restricted for each space vehicles launch/landing. Mr. Hayes was instrumental in the design of the Spaceflight-Wide Interactive Flight Tool (SWIFT), which was used to successfully track Space Shuttle launch and landings from 2008 thru the last flight in 2011.

    Mr. Hayes is also the Chairman and Chief Operating Office of Volanz Aerospace, Inc., a non-profit educational organization that runs educational and Spaceflight Institute (Summer Camp) programs in Maryland since 2000. Under his leadership, Volanz Aerospace managed the 2007 and 2009 Astronaut Glove Challenge (part of the Centennial Challenges) for NASA. He is currently working on opening a spaceflight Museum in Southern Maryland.

    Since 2010, Mr. Hayes is the President of Western Shores Institute, Inc., where he also serves as the Dean for Administrative Affairs. Western Shores Institute offers a wide variety of Management courses and programs, including spaceflight management.

    Mr. Hayes is a graduate of Wesley College, Excelsior College, the United States Air Force Air Command and Staff College, and has completed post-graduate executive Program Management and Leadership programs from the Harvard Business School. Mr. Hayes is a Senior Management instructor with over twenty-eight years (as of 2012) of Program/Project management, Information Technology, and Government Acquisition experience. He and his family live in Southern Maryland.
