    Jason Smith

Born to a WW2 US Air Force pilot and a mother who immigrated from Scotland as a young girl, airplanes and rockets were a large presence in Alex’s childhood as the space age began.
In college, his interests turned to photography and he eventually earned a Master’s degree in Fine Arts, with an emphasis in photography and a constant interest in the sciences.

Using his training and a respect for “doing it right”, Alex leveraged a deep understanding of the many forms of imagery to build advanced imaging architectures, designed to operate both in space and the atmosphere. Going to work for the Eastman Kodak Company in the mid 1980’s, Alex worked in the then highly classified world of surveillance satellites and airborne reconnaissance aircraft. As Kodak Government System was bought and sold a number of times, to eventually become Harris, Alex continued to develop defense imaging systems, data processing systems and large scale digital archive systems for the millions of pictures captured over his 34 year career.

Alex’s passion was always to try something new and see what worked. From early experience before Kodak, that included a nascent LASER development company as well as courses in Airframe and Power plant, Alex always tried to bring together diverse ideas to build solutions to difficult problems. This approach to his career was indicative of his passion for building teams of diverse individuals whom he gratefully credits for much of his success in the business and discovery of Air and Space.

None of his opportunities and accomplishments would have been realized without the support of his family.
