Alfred Augeri completed basic training at Sheppard Air Force Base (AFB), TX in February, 1949. He attended radio school at Scott Field, IL from February through August 1949 and radio school at Biloxi, MS through November 1949. His subsequent assignments as a radioman included duty with a crash boat squadron at Eglin AFB, FL, and as an aircraft radioman at Eglin. From September 1950 until March 1952 he was assigned to Korea, except for a three month assignment to Iwakuni, Japan with the Australian Air Force again as a radioman. In March 1952 he returned to the United States and was assigned to Hamilton AFB, CA until his discharge in August. He received the Korean Service Medal, the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, the Air Crew Member Badge, and a commendation letter from the Royal Australian Air Force. He was a staff sergeant when he was discharged.
