    First two familiarization flights with spins at Zahn’s Airport in a Piper J-3 Cub. In 1954 started flying at Brooklyn Skyport in Brooklyn, NY. Soloed in a Piper Cub on 8-1-54. Flew Seaplanes until 7-8-55, then went to land planes! Enlisted in U. S. Marine Corps Reserves at Floyd Bennet Field and was assigned to VMF 313.. Became plane captain in F4U Corsairs, Cougars, and Furys. Flew in DC-3s, Boxcars (R4Q2) and SNBs. Also flew in PB4Y2 Privateers and landed in Mitchell Field shortly before closing on April 15, 1961. He was transferred into HMR 768 and was plane captain on helicopters. While working near the Naval Shipyard in Brooklyn, NY he watched the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga CVB-60 being built. He went by helicopter to see her sea trials in 1956 while on weekend duty. In July of 1982 he did some flying in a 1928 Ford Tri-Motor on 7-31-82. He has flown into many airports on Long Island, NY. Many that are closed today.
    He worked with Ed Savader of Nomad Aviation at Republic Airport and flew in Cessna Skyhawks, Cardinals, Piper 180s, and Arrows. He has even flown in a Schweizer Sail Plane.
