Amos Denslow "Den" Faux-Burhans, IA, fell in love with airplanes and flying after reading Jack London's book, THE CALL OF THE WILD.
As soon as he was old enough to earn money, he saved every penny he could to take flying lessons and learn to fly. Then he worked two or three jobs to get enough money to buy his first airplane. Next, he wanted to be an airplane mechanic. Den's long term goals were to be an Inspector of Aircrafts and own his own airport. He bought a piece of land, repaired well used construction machinery, and built his own airport doing much of the work by himself while continuing to work two jobs to get enough money to make his dream come true. In 1990, he retired from the Department of Energy and began working on airplanes full time while constantly teaching others how to repair their planes as well as how to fly. (I should know. I am one of Den's students.)
