    Andrew Elmer Szucs was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1915. In his early adulthood, Mr. Szucs worked as a mechanic for the White Motor Company in Cleveland.

    He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1940 and became an aircraft mechanic. After completing engineering school at the Curtiss-Wright Corporation in Buffalo, New York, he was commissioned as a Chief Warrant Officer and assigned to the Fifth Transport Squadron as engineering officer. He saw action in the South Pacific during World War II (WWII).

    His post-war employment was as a supervisory mechanical engineer with the Visioneering Company in Cleveland. In the early 1960s he supervised the production team that built the Jupiter C rocket nosecones under a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) contract.

    Mr. Szucs passed away in January 1975 at the age of 59.
