    Andrew R. Wineman was born Nov 19, 1924 and died Aug 23, 1999. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech with bachelor and master's degrees in aeronautical engineering.

    He was employed by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) as a research scientist in pilotless aircraft, working on the stability and control of missiles and aircraft using rocket-powered models launched from Wallops Island at subsonic, transonic, and supersonic speeds. With the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), his research was more space oriented contributing to re-entry physics, meteor astronomy, and remote sensing of marine environments.

    Retirement was from NASA in 1976 after 30 years of federal service.
