Honored by:
Friends from Orbital and Others
Armella Ann Schroder passed away at the age of 59 after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic
cancer. Born in Hartselle, Alabama, Armella was passionate about space, and her photographic
memory helped her earn a BS in Aeronautical Engineering at Embry Riddle Aeronautical
University, a MS in Structures and Dynamics from The George Washington University and a ME
in Space Science from Stevens Institute of Technology.
Armella was a rocket scientist, enjoying a long career with Orbital/Orbital ATK and Northrop
Grumman working on the development of rockets and space vehicles. She loved cycling,
triathlons, learning, traveling, and surrounding herself with uplifting people. Armella was truly
an inspiration to family, friends and co-workers, many of whom she helped reach physical and
mental achievements that they never thought possible.
