    Arthur N. Aronsen, Born 23 July 1922 in New Orleans, La. Raised in Brooklyn and graduated Lowell High School in San Francisco, CA Was a student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the time of enlistment in the Army Air Corps. Attended Air Corps Meteorology school, graduated and was assigned as 2nd Lt. To Mather Air Field Weather Office.
    Later assigned to 20th Air Force, 314 Bomb Wing, 19th Bombardment Group, 28th Squadron as a Weather Reconnaissance Officer. He flew more than 28 weather and recon flights from March 1945 to the end of the war. During one flight, lost one engine over Okinawa and the second engine over Japan making an emergency landing on Iwo Jima. The average Weather Reconnaissance flight was 17+ hours with the longest flight of 19+ hours, going as far as Mukden in Manchuria, China. We had 4 forced refueling stops on Iwo Jima. Aronsen received the Distinguished Flying Cross and three Air Medals during his tour of duty. He returned to M I T, graduating in June 1948 with a BSME. Worked for Crown Zellerbach Corp for 28 years and left to form his own company in 1976, in which he is still active at age 80.
