    WWII Veteran early on, Bill’s interest centered around aviation while in the Navy. He role in aviaition included combat air crewman, radio man, machine gunner and aviation electronics technician. He flew on a variety of aircraft including SNB, PBY6A, R4D, TB<-3, AF2W and Neptune P2V-5 & 6 twin engine bombers. Bill flew in and out of Naval Air Stations, USS Siciley, USS Wright, USS Midway and USS Mindera were playing important roles during this time . Feb 1955 Bill was issued silver wings and we was with VP-6 San Francisco Calif. Flying in and out of Adak , Alaska on P3V Neptunes. April 2, 1957 Bill ended his role in Aviation on a tragic. April 2, 1957, Bill took his last Navy flight on Neptune P2V-6M #126518 from runway 22 at Chincoteague, VA NAS, shortly after takeoff the twin engine bomber went down and exploded upon impact.
