Barbara Kleinknecht is the niece of Kenneth S. Kleinknecht who worked for NASA and NACA as Manager of Project Gemini, Manager of Skylab, and Director of Flight Operations (1974 to 1976).
Kenneth S. Kleinknecht Served as Project Engineer for several test programs namely B-29, P-47, SP-63, P-82, P-61, P-38, P-59, B-25, and B-24.
In 1951 to 1959 he served as head of the Operations Engineering Section as and as an aeronautical research scientist. He was a designer and project engineer on the modification of the X-1 conversion to the X-1E aircraft and worked on the X-15. Also Manager of the Command and Service Modules of the Apollo Program.
