    Brandon Kenneth Liesemeyer, while serving in the Navy as part of the flight crew of ES-3A Shadow Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron Five, risked his life to save the pilot who ejected when his F-14 crashed on the deck of the Kitty Hawk Aircraft Carrier. During night training exercises, July 11, 1994 Brandon ran into the fire created by the crash, cut the parachute cords wrapped around and trapping the pilot in the fire. He pulled the pilot to safety while sustaining burns to his arm and legs. Airman First Class Brandon Kenneth Liesemeyer was award the Navy-Marine Corp Medal, the highest peacetime award given.

    In recognition of his valor, bravery and service to the United States Navy, his name will forever be joined with those meritorious men and women whose spirits soar higher than mortal men.
