    Air and Space Friend

    Honored by:

The first time I laid eyes on my husband, his head was tilted toward the Ohio summer sky examining a Bell 212 Helicopter flying overhead. I thought, no big deal, we don't see many of those around here. Boy, did I not know what I was getting myself into at the time. You see, I fell in love with a man who has aviation in his blood. He told me it all started when he was about 8 years of age and someone gave him a book of aircraft to help him identify those "things" flying through the air. From that point on he knew that some how, some way he was going to work as professional in the aviation industry.

I am proud to say that he has met is goal and along the way has had some unusual experiences. As an U.S. Marine he served his country, and President Reagan, as part of the elite crew of Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1). From there, he was honorably discharged and received his Associates Degree in Aircraft Maintenance in addition to becoming a FAA licensed A&P mechanic. During those formative years with the Marines and during his tenure in college, he acquired is private pilot's license as well.

Brent's passion for aviation and dedication for the safety of those in flight has helped him to advance his career as an aircraft mechanic. He is now working for a major airline in a position where his knowledge and dedication to aviation and aircraft type is crucial to the safety and well being of the crew and passengers of each and every flight.

I believe it is a rare thing to meet someone who loves his or her job let alone marry one whom jumps out of bed in the morning to "play" in a profession that he has a great amount of passion for. I wish everyone were as lucky as my husband. Therefore, in honor of my husband's 36th birthday, I am making a contribution to have his name inscribed on the National Aviation and Space Exploration Wall of Honor. Through his perseverance, passion and dedication he has made significant contributions to aviation - maybe not on the grand scale of Igor Sikorsky or Lindbergh, but he is and was always there when it mattered.
