Brian J. Horais, born in 1949 in El Paso Texas, got the aviation “bug” at the early age of 10 when his dad took him up in a Piper Cub and let him handle the controls. Brian went on to pursue a career in Aerospace technologies and to become a Naval Aviator piloting the A-6 Intruder from the USS John F. Kennedy in the late 1970s. After leaving active duty in the early 1980s Brian continued his involvement in aerospace research activities and was directly involved in a number of research programs in propulsion, remote sensing and space technologies. He published and presented numerous papers on small satellite technologies in the 1990s and chaired five international conferences on small satellite remote sensing from 1991 through 2000. Brian expanded his involvement in aviation by undergoing training as a docent for the National Air and Space Museum’s Udvar Hazy Center in 2003. Brian holds two patents in Aerospace and sensor technology. He was a 1971 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy – with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and a 1972 graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School, with a M.S. in Aerospace Engineering. Brian also obtained an MBA from the University of New Haven in 1986.
