    Outstanding Pilot, Aircraft Commander and Instructor Pilot in the United States Air Force's KC-10A Extender from 1998 through 2001.

    Captain Martin was born in Spokane, Washington. He was commissioned in the United States Air Force following graduation from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington, in May 1992. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology.

    Captain Martin's first assignment was in various missile maintenance positions at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, from February 1993 to May 1996. These positions included Squadron Executive Officer to Minuteman Missile Maintenance, Logistics Plans Flight Chief and finally Team Training Flight Chief. Some of his notable achievements during this assignment included supervising the maintenance for a follow-on test and evaluation launch of a Peacekeeper missile and achieving consistently "Outstanding" higher headquarters inspection results. He entered Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training at Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma, in July 1996 after attending the Air Force's Squadron Officer School in residence.

    After earning his wings, Captain Martin was assigned to McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey, as a KC-10 co-pilot. There he quickly moved from pilot, through standardization and evaluation, and on to Aircraft Commander and Squadron Executive Officer, concurrently. His most recent squadron position was as an Instructor Pilot. During his tour at McGuire Air Force Base, Captain Martin spanned the globe while excelling in air refueling and airlift support to fighter, bombardment, reconnaissance, and mobility forces. Numerous highlights from this assignment include: supporting overseas travel of the President of the United States; participating in Operation ALLIED FORCE in the skies of the former Yugoslavia; participating in Operation PHEONIX SCORPION III over Southwest Asia; and numerous military exercises in North America, Europe and Asia.

    Captain Martin spent the fall of 2001 serving as Chief Tanker Planner, Operations Directorate, Joint Task Force-Southwest Asia (JTF-SWA), Riyadh, and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia supporting Operations SOUTHERN WATCH and ENDURING FREEDOM. He will continue his active duty career in February 2002, at Travis Air Force Base, California, returning to the KC-10 as a Standardization and Evaluation Instructor Pilot.

    Captain Martin's personal awards include the Joint Service Achievement Medal, Air Force Air Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, arid the Air Force Achievement Medal.

    Captain Martin is married to the former Bethann Johnson of Billings, Montana. They have two sons, Ryder Austin and Foster Aspen.
