    H. W. “Hank” Hise was a pilot in the first flight of Marine aircraft to land at Henderson Field Guadalcanal when the field opened on 20 August 1942. After Guadalcanal he made two more combat tours in the Pacific Theatre as a Squadron CO in attacks up the Solomon’s chain and later as CO of VMTB-132 aboard a Marine CVE. He flew combat missions during the Korean War in the F9F-2. He served as Assistant Wing Commander of the First MAW in 1968 at Danang, South Vietnam.
