    Brigadier General John A. Rouse, USAF (Ret)
    Born March 13, 1915 in Rochester, NY, John graduated from Syracuse
    University in 1938 and then from Aviation Cadet Training, Kelly AFB, Texas in 1939 as a 2nd Lieutenant and Pilot in the Army Air Corps. During his 32-year career in the military, John flew B-17s from Java, Australia, and New Guinea against the Japanese forces. Promoted to Captain In 1942, he assumed command of the 30th Bomb Squadron in Australia. He was awarded two Silver Stars, one for action against enemy convoys off New Guinea and the other for gallantry in action displayed when he led a flight of eight B-17s on a daylight raid against Rabaul, New Britain. Reaching the designation of Command Pilot, John was awarded numerous other military honors, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, Purple Heart, Commendation Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and National Defense Service Medal. Subsequent to the war, John served in the Air Force Headquarters at the Pentagon where he was awarded the Legion of Merit; as Secretary of the Air Command and Staff School at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama; and with Air Training Command at Randolph AFB, Texas. Promoted to General in June, 1959 he became Commander of Pacific Air Forces Base Command and Hawaiian Air Defense Division at
    Hickam AFB, Hawaii and was responsible for over 10 organizations including Johnson Island.
    General Rouse was then assigned to Mcchord AFB in 1965 as Commander of the 25'n Air/NORAD/ CONAD Divisions where he was responsible for the air defense of over 700,000 square miles of
    the Pacific Northwest and 20 organizations and over 8000 people.
