    1st Lt Bruce K. Thatcher got his first taste of aviation at age 14 washing airplanes at a general aviation airport and getting paid in Link Trainer time.

    Enlisted into the Army in March of 1964. Failed the Eye exam. Became a sergeant in the artillery. Graduated from Artillery OCS in August of 1965. Earned airborne wings in 1966.
    Served in Vietnam with the 1st Air Cavalry Division, 66-67. Earned the Distinguished Flying Cross as an Aerial Artillery Observer in the back seat of a O-1 Birddog.

    As a civilian, supervised the construction and relocation of Boeing's helicopter transmission manufacturing and rebuilding facility.
