    Honored by:

Burton H. Lauppe, born in 1925 in Sacramento, California, served in World War II as signalman on LST 527 which made over 100 trips across the English Channel including D-Day to Sword Beach. Upon returning home he took flying lessons and became a licensed commercial pilot. He owned an airplane for 50 years, enjoyed flying and used it during his lifelong farming career.
His enthusiasm for aeronautics encouraged his sons and nephews to “learn to fly.”
