Served 21+ years in the US Army. Originally drafted into US Army in 1963 and later Commissioned in 1965 as a 2nd Lieutenant, Infantry in the US Army. Retired as Lieutenant Colonel in 1984.
Vietnam Tours:
1968-1969: Served as Aircraft Commander while piloting CH-47 during combat resupply mission when shot down in support of U.S. Army 1st Cavalry Division combat operations on 6 August 1969 near An Loc, III Corp, Republic of South Vietnam. Awarded Distinguished Flying Cross and 16 Air Medals.
1965-1966: Served as US Army MACV Advisor to 2nd ARVN Infantry Division, Quang Ngai Province, Republic of South Vietnam. Awarded Combat Infantryman Badge and Bronze Star Medal.
