Capt. Alan D. Blaver was born with the "spirit" of flight. His first encounter was at the age of six in a Piper TriPacer. The spark was ignited and a life-long dream began. At the age of 25, he pursued the arduous task of obtaining licenses and type ratings without the help of a military background. After a period of instructing and corporate flying, he was hired by Air California and has thoroughly enjoyed his career as an airline pilot. Upon retirement April 1, 2001, he bade his fellow pilots at American Airlines adieu and reflected on the many memories of flight among the clouds and sky so blue.
