Captain Rankin is an F-94 fighter pilot who flew during the Korean War. During a night mission over North Korea, Capt. Rankin was engaged in a dogfight with a Chinese Mig 15 and subsequently shot the aircraft down even though the Mig was faster and more maneuverable. For this action, Capt. Rankin was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medals.
