Born Yankton, SD in 1917.

Enlisted in U.S. Navy V-5 Program August 22, 1942.
Commissioned and designated Naval Aviator November 19, 1943.
Assigned as Instructor in Twin Beechcraft Squadron VN8D-8C.
Operational training in PB4Y-2 aircraft.
Joined VP-108, later VP-28, as Patrol Plane Commander September

1946 - Okinawa, Guam, Hawaii, Active duty with VR-3 1951. Transferred to VR-6 November 1953.

Assigned Training and Administrative Reserve Program June 1954. Served as Legal Officer, Personnel, Administrative, Executive and Commanding Officer in TAR Program until retirement February 1, 1967. 22 years three months and five days active duty.
