    Captain Fossgreen began his flying career while in the Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AFROTC) at San Jose State College in 1960. He soloed and received his Private Pilot's License in just 36 hours. In 1961, he graduated as a distinguished cadet and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force. A few months later, he entered pilot training at Williams AFB, AZ, and received his wings in 1962.

    While stationed at Travis AFB, CA, he flew C-124s with the 85th Squadron of the Military Airlift Command (MAC) to the Pacific and into Vietnam.

    Andy left the service in 1966 and joined United Airlines as a pilot and his career spanned thirty-three years. He retired in 1999, at age 60, while flying as captain on B-747-400s. At United Airlines, he flew the DC-6; B-727; DCS; DC-10; B-737; B-757; B-767; B-747-400. He was grateful and blessed to have a career in a profession he truly loved.
