    Ms. Helen Littlefield

Captain Arthur R Littlefield learned to fly in 1939 at the age of 18. With his two older brothers they purchased a 1928 Curtis Robin for $395.00. This airplane had a World War I surplus Curtis OX5 95-HP V-8 engine -- a real antique!

Their airport was a potato field at Freehold, New Jersey. After a year they upgraded to a Piper Cruiser and moved to Basking Ridge, NJ. The next 2-1/2 years were spent instructing on the Civilian Pilot Training program.

When this program ended, he joined United Airlines. At United he flew a few trips in the Boeing 247 and finished his career flying the Boeing 747. In between he flew all Douglas models from DC-3 to the DC-8 series. After 38 years and 2 months it was all over.
