    Honored by:
    Mr. James Alexander Hogg

Jimmy Hogg's first experience with aviation was at the age of 12 as a passenger in a Flying Jenny above Kauai.
He was hired as a mechanic with Inter-Island Airways in 1930, was a "Flying Mate" in 1931, co-pilot in 1936, Captain in 1937. He flew Sikorsky S-43's and S-38's. He had the Maui navigational station named after him in 1938. It is still OGG today.
He was Chief Pilot at Hawaiian Air in 1939, Chief of Operations in 1940 and went back to the line in 1955 as Senior Pilot. He flew MATS contracts in the 1950's (DC-6's) all over the USA and the Orient. In 1966 after training at Long Beach he brought the first DC-9 to Hawaiian Air. He logged his last commercial flight in 1969 in a DC-9 after 41 years in aviation and 25,000 hours. He stands out as one of the Frontier pilots who helped build the airlines in the Pacific.
He made the first Inter-island flight after Pearl Harbor on December 10, 1941, in a DC-3 to Maui and the Big Island flying 50 to 100 feet above the water in a driving rain to avoid anti-aircraft guns aimed for enemy aircraft.
He was invited to Washington for a salute to America's Pioneer Pilots in 1976. It was the 50th anniversary of Commercial Aviation. He was one of 29 pilots honored.
