Taught himself to fly in an OX5 Powered Travelair. Barnstormed across USA. Served in Army Air Corps as Flight Instructor, Ferry Pilot, China/India “Hump” Campaign. Flew as Airline Captain on all-prop 4-engine aircraft from DC-4 – Lockheed Constellations across the North Atlantic, and Caribbean to S.A. He loved flight and was considered a renowned “Eagle” at it.
