    I started my aviation career upon getting discharged from the US Navy. I served on a destroyer, US Hank DD702, 1945 until July 1946 in electric crew.

    Hired by PCA Airlines. Worked 10 years in hangar 3 at National Airport in electric shop, advancing to lead electrician.

    Used my GI Bill to learn to fly at Beacon Field, VA, and got my Commercial and Instrument ratings. Joined a flying club to enjoy and build up my flying time.

    Got on as Co-Pilot in January 1956 on DC-3. Flew DC-3, Lockheed Constellation, Viscount, and DC-6/DC-7 as co-pilot. In last DC-3 Captain class in 1961.

    Capital merged with United Airlines. Flew as Captain on DC-6/DC-7, Boeing 727 and DC-10.

    Retired in 1987. 41 years in commercial aviation.
