    Carl L. Sandquist commanded a new B25 North American
    "Mitchell" bomber from Florida U.S.A. across
    South America, the Atlantic Ocean, Africa, Arabia, India and across the Himalaya mountains, the "Hump", to Yankai China where he served in the 491st Bomb Group. It was World War II and he was 23 years old. After the war Carl joined Capital Airlines as a pilot and later United Airlines. He retired on May 31, 1983 as a captain.
